Makes and Bakes aims to help people of all ages and abilities access and enjoy taking part in art. Our activities are great fun and your group will make something fantastic to bring home and show off! Each workshop is designed to produce quality crafts or delicious food. We can add something special to your event no matter whether you are running a big fun day a small birthday party or something else entirely. Don’t forgot Makes and Bakes workshops aren’t just for children!  We have lots of workshops that really fun, not to mention relaxing, whether you are looking for unique  ideas for a hen party or baby shower or simply want to have a night in with friends and some drinks! Many of our activities can even be personalised and themed to your event or the season.

Makes and Bakes also run our own clubs and events throughout the year. In our after school groups and summer schemes we run an exciting program designed to build creativity, support relaxation, develop muscles and fine motor skills and improve self-esteem. We also run regular craft groups for the elderly in a relaxed social atmosphere. We teach new skills and provide projects like building and decorating bird houses or making candles. Throughout the year we also have our craft workshops for grown-ups. They are BYOB and a great opportunity to relax, socialise and try activities like bath bombs and chocolate art. The best way to keep up with our events is on social media.

We are Belfast based and travel to your venue, for areas outside Belfast we charge a little extra for travel and fuel. We are fully insured and have lots of experience in events big and small. Each workshop whether it’s a Makes activity or a Bakes activity is fully supplied and we are experts at keeping the mess to a minimum. Don’t worry if you don’t have access to kitchen facilities, each workshop can be adapted to a range of venues. Inclusivity is an aim that has been important to us from the beginning because we have seen how much creative activity can benefit everyone. All our staff are given training so they are able to fully support those with disabilities and special needs in taking part in their activity. Please let us know in advance if your group have any special dietary requirements where possible we will adjust our recipes.

Participating in creative activity has great emotional physical and intellectual benefits for everyone. It supports the development of fine motor skills and muscles, promotes relaxation and allows us to become more creative problem solvers. For older people taking part in creative activity is like exercise for the mind and can keep the brain sharp. The list is endless. The main thing to note is that because being creative is fun and enjoyable building all these important lifelong skills isn’t a chore!
